Cataract Surgery and LASIK
My mother had cataract surgery a couple of years ago but she isn’t happy with her vision. Can LASIK help her?
I’m glad you asked that question. Many patients don’t realize they have options after cataract surgery if they get less than ideal results. If your mother’s problem is residual prescription, then LASIK or CK are excellent options. CK is a new procedure that treats the eye without lasers or blades. Both eyes could be treated to improve distance vision. However, since most intraocular lenses do not provide correction for near, she would still need reading glasses. Another alternative would be to leave her nondominant eye a little nearsighted to decrease her need for both distance and reading glasses.
