James Mann, Curator of the Las Vegas Art Museum states “the new LVAM’s ambition and mission are to help lead its artistic, cultural, and economic community to a viable future as a world capital of the fine arts in the 21st century.” In 1974, the Las Vegas Art League, founded in 1950, became the Las Vegas Art Museum and over the next years put on frequent juried and judged art shows, including more than 20 national competitions despite not having their own building. After many years the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, after having built a fine arts museum at 9600 W. Sahara chose the LVAM to occupy and run the facility. Today the LVAM celebrates 49 years of existence. Past exhibits at the museum include Images of Greatness: A tribute to African-American Athletes, William Thomas Thompson:Outsider Artist, Forces of Nature: Marlene Tseng Yu and annual shows such as New Horizons Art Show and Auction.

The Las Vegas Arts Commission, funded by the City of Las Vegas, is dedicated to the promotion, development and commissioning of projects that place art in public places. It encourages the inclusion of site-specific art elements in redevelopment, infrastructure and environmental enhancement projects. Since 1992, the Arts Commission has commissioned over 19 public art projects throughout the City of Las Vegas, most of which involved local artists. As part of its educational outreach program, it presents guest lecturers and provides artist residencies in schools, community centers and other youth-oriented facilities and presents. The Arts Commission also maintains slide registries for Nevada and national artists.

The Boulder City Arts Council is a non-profit community organization incorporated in 1970. All members are volunteers and receive no compensation, just the satisfaction of contributing to the community. As part of the Boulder Dam Hotel Association it has been instrumental in the renovation of this historic building. The council sponsors visual arts presentations and present several concert series per year for the benefit of the area residents. The Arts Council is funded through tickets sales to events and have received various grants including the Nevada State Council for the Arts.

Nevada Arts Advocates is a statewide organization dedicated to advancing cultural arts in our state through education and advocacy. Established in 1977 as a nonprofit corporation to promote cultural arts their primary goal is to increase funding for the Nevada Arts Council (NAC). NAC is the major provider of government grants to the arts throughout the state. Nevada Arts Advocates provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Nevada who have demonstrated excellence in the arts. The Nevada Arts Council established as a state agency in 1967, is located in Carson City and is a division of the Department of Museums, Library and Arts. NAC serves as the primary agency in Nevada through which state and national funds are used to stimulate and encourage the arts in the state.
