ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a fatal neuro-degenerative disease that progressively paralyzes the victim as the motor neurons in the spine die. There is no known cause or cure. Death usually results from respiratory failure in 2 to 5 years. ALS can strike anyone at anytime.

Transmission of Nerve Impulses
Nerve cells are made up of three parts, the cell body, the dendrites, and the axon. The axon is the long part of the nerve cell which can carry a nerve impulse to other cells. Nerve cells normally conduct electrical impulses at great speed because they have an outer coat, called myelin, which insulates portions of the axon, and lets the impulses “jump” more quickly along the length of the axon. If this coat is lost, the transmission of nerve impulses is greatly slowed.

Stomach acid reflux
Question :
I’ve been taking first prescription and now over-the-counter acid medications for over three years (Tagamet, Pepcid, etc.). While I do experience relief, they have not ended the problem of acid reflux. Also, I experience difficulty (gagging, unable to swallow) when I first attempt to eat. What are the problems with continued use of these products? I also am dependent on sinus and allergy medications to sleep at night.
