I have a thyroid nodule. What should be done next to find out more about it?
Today’s technology allows us to get a pretty accurate answer by doing some simple tests. You will need blood work that includes thyroid function testing and antibody studies for thyroiditis. We send you for a thyroid ultrasound to get a better idea about the nodule - - the number of nodules present, type of nodule present, and their size. A needle aspiration of the nodule(s) can tell us if it is benign or cancerous. Based on the test results, the treatment can be watchful waiting, thyroid medication or surgery
